What happens at a cocktail masterclass?
At our cocktail making classes, you’ll learn the art of mixology and some interesting facts from expert bartenders. From mocktails to mojitos, you’ll use a range of techniques, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and ingredients to blend your concoctions. The result will be delicious cocktails and a host of new skills to show off.
What is the golden ratio in cocktails?
The Golden Ratio: 2:1:1. Many classic cocktails abide by this simple yet effective ratio—two parts spirit, one part sweet, and one part sour. This ratio provides a balanced foundation, allowing the spirit to shine while being complemented by the sweetness and acidity.
Is there a minimum age requirement to attend the class?
Yes, participants must be 18 years or older to attend our cocktail making classes.
Do I need ID to attend the class?
For students attending the cocktail making class that look under 25, please bring a valid government-issued photo id.
Are children allowed?
Unfortunately, this is an adults-only event. All students will be required to be 18 years of age or older. Your instructor reserves the right to ask for government issued identification if you look 25 years of age or younger.
What is the difference between a bartender and a mixologist?
Mixologists serve drinks, but bartenders serve customers
Will alcohol be available?
Your instructor will provide recipes and demonstrations for three cocktails, both with alcohol and without (aka “mocktail”). All ingredients are provided for you to mix and pour the three “mocktails”. Some alcohol is provided free-of-charge if you wish to also try your hand in creating a standard cocktail. You are also welcome to bring your own alcohol to add to your own cocktails. If you do consume alcohol, we would ask that you limit yourself to two standard drinks.
Do your instructors hold Responsible Service of Alcohol?
Yes, all our instructors have RSA certificates.
Can I make mocktails?
Your instructor will provide recipes, instructions, demonstrations and ingredients for three non-alcoholic cocktails (“mocktails”), as well as instructions how to create a alcoholic version of the cocktail.
What are valid forms of proof-of-age?
Valid proof-of-age include Australian state-issued drivers licence (digital and physical), foreign-issued drivers licence in English, Australian or foreign passport, or Australian Post Keypass. The proof-of-age document must not be expired, have a face photo and date of birth. Photocopies and photographs (digital or physical) will not be accepted as proof-of-age.
